Despite the frigid temperatures, the ice was only a few inches thick when a heard of elk plunged through the ice in Wyoming over the weekend.

Passerby Dusty Jones saw the incident a pulled over. After several phone calls and more assistance from other travelers, chainsaws arrived to cut through more ice. The Game, Fish, and Parks were also dispatched to the scene.

According to the  East Idaho News, 30 - 40 people had gathered to help the heard of 13 elk out of the 8-foot deep icy water.

Miraculously, all 13 of the elk were pulled to safety.

As temperatures hovered around the freezing mark, an unidentified man in a tank top (shown in video) lets us know exactly how tough midwesterners really are. The cold never bothered us anyway.

The incident happened near the Palisades Reservoir near Jackson, Wyoming.
