
Sioux Falls Street Closures on Phillips Ave. And 18th Street
Drivers in downtown Sioux Falls should prepare for temporary traffic changes as utility improvement work begins.
Street Closure: Phillips Avenue
Beginning on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, the northbound lanes on North Phillips Avenue will be closed between Fourth Street and Second Street to allow crews to complete utility improvements.
Northbound traffic will be detoured to Main Avenue.
Southbound traffic will not be impacted. This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of May.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Street Closure: 18th Street
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026, West 18th Street will be closed between Dakota Avenue and Main Avenue.
The north sidewalk will be closed; pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the south sidewalk. Northwest Corp. will be doing residential crane work.
This work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.
