Experience the Roaring '20s at This Unique Fundraiser

Step back in time this weekend as the Dell Rapids Museum at 317 E. 4th Street transforms into a lively 1920s speakeasy for a one-night-only fundraiser on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Dakota News Now is reporting that the fun gets underway beginning at 7 p.m. Guests will be invited into the glamour and intrigue of the Prohibition era, complete with four signature cocktails inspired by the Roaring ’20s. The evening will also feature live jazz music from the Al Berven Trio, performing from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., setting the perfect mood for a night of vintage fun.

You are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the era - whether that means dressing as a dazzling flapper, a dapper sheik, or simply coming as you are. A costume contest will add an extra layer of excitement to the festivities.

Support Local History: The Purpose Behind the Party

Beyond the costumes, music, and cocktails, the event has a very important purpose. Funds raised will go toward the maintenance of the historic museum. It was originally built in 1902 by the Norwegian Stonecutters, and all of the quartzite came from the quarry in Dell Rapids.

The museum board members are hoping that eventually they will be able to replace the aging HVAC system in the museum.

Tickets are $20 in advance (on Facebook and at the museum) or $25 at the door. There will be a cash bar, and you must be 21 or older.

It’s a fun way to support local history while enjoying a unique and memorable night out.
