
Dangerous Flooding Forecast For Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota!
The next couple of days could bring some very heavy rain and extremely dangerous flooding to Minnesota, Iowa, or South Dakota.
According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, we can expect the first round of potential heavy rain from Thursday night into Friday morning.
The second period of heavier rain is expected Friday night into Saturday morning.
In total, from Thursday through Saturday, portions of Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota could see 2-3 inches of rain with pockets of 4-6 inches.
Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms with the potential to produce heavy downpours are expected through Saturday.
Widespread accumulations of 2-4 inches are expected with isolated pockets of up to 6 inches, especially north of I-90.
The greatest risk for flash flooding comes with storms Thursday night and again Friday night.
With soils at or near saturation and elevated river levels, flood concerns are increasing.
Ponding in low-lying areas and ditches is likely, as well as minor flooding on creeks, streams, and small rivers.
