Celebrating 60 Years Of DakotAbilities With A Special Raffle

You may have heard the name Dakotabilities, but what do you know about this extraordinary non-profit organization? Their mission statement is “Together, we create a warm and welcoming community, enriching the lives of those we support.”

DakotAbilities supports 140 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who have a wide range of abilities, skills, and interests, by providing safe, accessible housing, 24/7 skilled nursing, physical habilitation services, and the Meaningful Day program that allows each person to pursue a wide range of opportunities from art, theatre, and music to fitness, nutrition, and life skills.

Right now, Dakotabilities is celebrating its 60th Anniversary in a really unique way. They are holding their first-ever diamond pendant raffle. The 2-stone diamond pendant, valued at $2700, is a generous donation from The Diamond Room by Spektor.

100% of raffle sales will go toward the construction of two new twin homes in Sioux Falls for adults with disabilities who have complex medical needs requiring on-site skilled nursing care. DakotAbilities is excited to build these new twin homes to replace the current 16-person group home where people currently live.

DakotAbilities advocates for people with disabilities and helps them advocate for themselves so their voices are heard and they gain independence. Additionally, DakotAbilities helps people with job interviews and finding jobs at area businesses.

Many of the people supported by DakotAbilities volunteer with other nonprofits such as Owen’s Outfitters, The Toy Lending Library, Feeding South Dakota, and Levitt at the Falls.
