Sioux Falls Gets Swept Up in Curling Fever This Weekend
If you've ever wondered what happens when strategy, skill, and a whole lot of sweeping collide, this weekend is your chance to find out.
The 3rd Annual Siouxperspiel is sliding back into Sioux Falls June 5-7 at the Scheels IcePlex, located at 4300 N. Bobhalla Drive in Sioux Falls. It brings with it a weekend full of curling competition, community spirit, and plenty of icy excitement.

Hosted by Sioux Falls Curling, the event will welcome 32 teams and more than 128 curlers from across the Midwest and beyond. Competitors will spend the weekend launching granite stones down the ice while teammates furiously sweep in front of them- a sport that looks unusual at first glance but quickly becomes surprisingly addictive to watch.
A Weekend of Competition and Community
Often called "chess on ice," curling combines strategy, teamwork, precision, and just enough drama to keep spectators on the edge of their seats. Whether you're a longtime fan or someone who's only seen curling during the Winter Olympics, the Siouxperspiel offers a perfect opportunity to experience the sport up close.
"This event is about much more than curling," says Siouxperspiel Coordinator Jennifer Farke. "It's about bringing people together, showcasing our growing curling community, and introducing new fans to one of the most exciting sports they've probably never tried."

Family-Friendly Fun Beyond the Ice
The fun extends beyond the ice. Visitors can enjoy raffle prizes and giveaways, food and drink specials, opportunities to meet curlers from around the region, and information about local Learn-to-Curl programs and league play.
Best of all, admission is completely free.
The Siouxperspiel has quickly grown into one of the region's premier curling events, attracting competitors and curious spectators alike. So if you're looking for something different this weekend, head to the Scheels IcePlex and see what all the sweeping is about.
