Babies wait for no one.  And a blizzard named Jonas wasn't going to stand in the way of his birthday!

Officials say a woman in labor who had to be taken to a hospital in a fire truck during Saturday's blizzard has given birth to a baby girl.

Montgomery County, Maryland, Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer says paramedics were called to a home in Germantown on Saturday morning. The woman had been riding in a vehicle to the hospital, but it got stuck, and she returned home.

Then a responding ambulance broke a snow chain and got stuck, too. A plow and a military all-wheel-drive truck finally got the woman out and she was taken to the hospital in a fire engine.

Holy Cross Health spokeswoman Yolanda Gaskins says the woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 11:18 a.m. Sunday.

I hope those involved will be available for the girls first show-n-tell at school when she's old enough.
