Chaos In Sioux Falls Streets: Drunk Woman Goes on Car Crash Spree
In what sounds like something that belonged in an episode of the TV Show "Chips" from the 70s, a Sioux Falls woman went on an early morning car crash spree on Thursday.
Dakota News Now is reporting that 33-year-old Ashlyann Saathoff of Sioux Falls was arrested after she crashed into multiple cars, and a business on Thursday, (November 14).
According to Dakota News Now, the incident started sometime between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM when she was driving a Chevy Traverse that struck another motorist on the I-229 exit ramp on Minnesota Avenue. The vehicle then proceeded northbound on Minnesota Avenue to a cannabis shop near 43rd Street and Minnesota. There, it crashed into a digital sign and the front doors of the business.
But wait, there's more, Saathoff's vehicle then continued northbound on Minnesota and at some point, side-swiped a blue Ford Focus. Dakota News Now reports the driver of the Focus has yet to speak with police regarding the incident. Authorities are hoping to speak to that driver as part of the investigation.
After the run in with the Focus, Saathoff's vehicle proceeded to travel north to West 6th Street and Minnesota where it struck a parked Minnehaha County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle in the administration lot.
Saathoff and the vehicle eventually made its way to Falls Park, where it got “hung up and stuck."
Below is a map of Saathoff's crash-spree route:
Police caught up with Saathoff a short time later near Falls Park, where she was taken into custody and charged with DWI, hit-and-run, and several counts of felony intentional damage to property.
An estimate on the the exact amount of damage is not known yet, however, it's believed to be well into the thousands of dollars.
