2018 South Dakota Flu Season Could Be Real Bad
As we go into the Christmas shopping season we also head into the 2018 Flu season. And outbreak forecasts aren't looking good.
According to the South Dakota Department of Health, there have already been 88 confirmed cases of flu in the state as of Nov. 25th.
U.S. health officials are bracing for a severe influenza season now that the annual vaccine has proved ineffective in stemming an outbreak in Australia.
The Washington Times is saying that U.S. health officials are reporting that this years vaccine has had little effect on an influenza outbreak in Australia.
Australia has just ended it's winter as the U.S. heads into it's winter season which provides us with an indicator of what we can expect this flu season.
The New England Journal of Medicine recently wrote: "Reports from Australia have caused mounting concern, with record-high numbers of laboratory-confirmed influenza notifications and outbreaks and higher-than-average numbers of hospitalizations and deaths."
Flu symptoms include headache, fever, tiredness, runny nose, body aches, sore throat, and cough.
