Being a foodie doesn't necessarily mean you spend a fortune going out to eat at the finest, most expensive restaurants all over the city. (Well, it could.) It can also mean you know how to put together a fine Marinara sauce, or amazing creme brulee right in your own kitchen.

You could also be a fantastically frugal gourmet who knows all the best dive food places in Sioux Falls.

Wallet Hub went on a search for cities that offer the best foodie experiences at the best prices. So they compared 182 of the biggest cities in the U.S. in two basic categories to come up with their findings.

The two categories were, 1) Affordability and 2) Diversity, Accessibility, and Quality.

Within those categories were subcategories covering everything from the cost of groceries and average wine and beer prices to restaurants and food trucks per capita.

International grocery stores, food and wine tours, craft breweries and coffee shops, as well as kitchen supply stores and farmer's markets, were also considered.

When Wallet Hub was done surveying and crunching numbers Sioux Falls did pretty well, considering all the competition.

Sioux Falls ranked 113th.
